Protecting Your Peace: Part 1. How to identify at "Qi sucker"

In Chinese medicine, Qi refers to vital energy or life force. Qi has a warming and transforming function in the body. 'Qi Suckers' are individuals who drain your energy, leaving you feeling depleted and drained. If you are already deficient, your protections that lie on the outermost portion of your body - your skin - may be lax. Imagine that your skin is a portal of entry. If there is not a gate on that external part, toxic energy from others can slink right on in and 'stick.' I like to use the term porous. The first step is recognizing whether or not you are porous. Physiologically, those who are porous often get sick easily, have asthma/allergies, have a stuffy or runny nose all the time, and may spontaneously sweat, or be clammy to the touch. Their body gets chilled easily, they might have a pale face, and tend to get rashes and hives easily. If this sounds like you, your energetic defenses may naturally be low, causing you to be more prone to Qi suckers.

Next, you must identify attributes of Qi suckers. They often come in various forms but exhibit similar traits such as seeking external motivation or validation for internal solutions, excessive neediness, and a lack of self-awareness. They might be outwardly damaging or speak ill of people in hopes of boosting their own self-esteem. They are egocentric types of people who need you to validate that they are, in fact, the most important person in the room.

For instance, Qi Suckers may expect others to 'fix' them without taking responsibility for their own well-being. They might constantly seek validation and answers outside of themselves, unable to tap into their inner resources for healing and growth. It’s important to mention that there are many attributes to Qi suckers and some attributes might be more draining than others.

As a practitioner in the healing arts, I've encountered Qi Suckers who demand constant attention and care without taking ownership of their healing journey. These interactions can be draining, cause harm, fatigue, and pain.

It's essential to recognize Qi Suckers like your life depends on it and set boundaries to protect your energy. Remember that your well-being is paramount, and you have the power to safeguard your energetic space from draining influences. Recognize if you have become addicted to being the recipient of these types of people or interactions. Sometimes being a target of Qi suckers actually can put us in a place of feeling important. This is an extremely toxic dynamic and not one of internal wellness.

By implementing techniques for energetic protection, fostering self-awareness, and boosting your own Qi, you can navigate interactions with Qi Suckers more effectively and preserve your vitality and well-being.
