Music for Relaxation

Right before Avenue Acupuncture closed due to COVID-19, one of my patients asked, “Would you mind sharing your best playlists for relaxation so that I could lay down and pretend I’m receiving an acupuncture treatment?” To that I say: hell yes.

In the clinic, I stream the following stations via either pandora or amazon prime music (they’re available on both!): liquid mind radio, deuter radio, spa music radio. These are all great stations if you prefer to relax to music that doesn’t have lyrics. For some people, lyrics can be a hinderance and distraction from achieving a deeper state of relaxation.

In addition to these streaming radio options, I also really enjoy the Asian Meditation Music Collective album. It has 101 songs and over 7 hours of relaxing music. I enjoy this album specifically because it reminds me of my time in China. These tracks also do not have song lyrics and I use them quite frequently in my clinic.

If I am craving some background music while cooking dinner, sitting by the fire, or taking a relaxing bath, I really like the “Relax and Unwind” playlist from Spotify. These songs do have lyrics and some are a little more upbeat than the above options. Nevertheless, most of these songs are acoustic guitar and I would classify them as easy listening. What type of music do you like to relax to? Leave it in the comments.
